Abstract works by Manu Mrityunjay

Mrityunjay is a multidisciplinary artist engaged with spaces both within and at the intersections of text, sound and image, continually (dis)locating himself in/with twin planks of crisis and anxiety. His work involves a performance to orchestrate a negotiation between intuition, and allowed accidents. Tracing the shared site of pleasure, beauty, the fear of the unknown and overcoming is the reward at the end. Born in India, Mrityunjay made Toronto his second home in the year 2013.
In the next two years after moving to Canada, he published two books ("Away ya Damn poems" 2014, "Swaha" 2019), a dozen essays and produced two music albums (Songs from basement 2015, Su.N Sakhiye 2020).

Three female, contemporary artists; three different approaches, three different mediums, and three different creative minds.
Sue Archibald, Margaret Stawicki and Rosemary VanderBreggen get together to present their works at this inaugural Show of Studio M Gallery.
• Sue Archibald
Sue studied Fine Art at the University of Guelph, furthering her studies in Edmonton, Toronto, then moving to Port Credit, Ontario.
Sue's work is narrative, and colourful and appeals to people on multiple levels. Regardless of what is painted, her style remains consistent. Images are a little folksy, with a sense of whimsy. Sue applies paint & charcoal energizing images with marks, lines and patterns. Her paintings are created from imagination, based on ideas of visual memory that often tell a personal story.
Sue exhibits her work throughout Southern Ontario where awards of excellence have been won in many exhibitions. Her works can be found in private collections throughout Canada, the US, and the UK.
• Margaret Stawicki
She is a Polish-Canadian artist based in Mississauga. Before devoting herself to her passion – painting, Margaret spent more than 30 years in graphic design and co-founded Our Kids Media with her husband.
Her preferred medium is oil. She admires simplicity and is attracted to the minimal use of colour. Her work can be described as modern, symbolic, narrative, emotional, energetic, and imbalanced, Margaret's work mostly reflects on her experiences, and personal journey; emigration, changing counties, starting a new life, making choices, and always leaving something behind.
Margaret’s paintings have been accepted and awarded in art exhibitions and juried shows. Her works have been on display at Art Galleries in Ontario and Quebec
• Rosemary Vanderbreggen
An instructor at DVSA, Etobicoke Art Group and Haliburton School of the Arts.
Rosemary works primarily in the mediums of collage and acrylic, but is also know to create sculpture and photography. She was the first Resident Reclaim Artist at HSAD and has exhibited widely with works in national and international collections.
Grounded in art principles and honours the process. Rosemary has a long term project in and about the landfill, as it applies to the artist and the socioeconomics in society.
Working currently with collage and found things as they apply to the history of print and manufacturing.
